The Four Profit Levers, and Why They Multiply
Every business's profit is four numbers multiplied together. Most people only ever work on one of them.
| Lever | What it is |
|---|---|
| 1. Leads | How many people arrive |
| 2. Conversion rate | What share of them buy |
| 3. Average order value | How much each buyer spends |
| 4. Purchases per customer | How often they come back |
Why multiplication changes everything
Because they multiply rather than add, improving each by 20% does not give you 80% more profit. It gives you roughly double.
The lever almost nobody touches
Everyone chases lever one. More traffic, more posts, more reach. It is the most visible and the most expensive.
Levers three and four are usually where the fastest gains sit and they cost nothing in traffic — promoting a higher-priced offer to the same audience, or promoting a second thing to people who already bought once.
The catch
You cannot pick the cheapest lever to improve if you cannot see any of them. Most beginners have no measurement at all, so they default to lever one because it is the only one they can feel. What to measure from day one fixes that.
